sleepover

Our SleepOver

My favourite things that we did at the sleepover were the shelter making because it was extremely easy as I have had a lot of practice building bivouacs in scouts.  My other favourite was the survival kit because we got to run through the bush, tires and sand pit army style with a heavy bag on our backs & carrying a bucket filled with 5 full water bottles & a giant woolen blanket.  In my group were Vacha, Sophia, Aron, Sean & I.  Sean was our group leader.  In the trucker's hitch station I learned how to do the trucker's hitch and I almost got it.  the funniest thing was that in the first aid station I knew everything that Tiffany was talking about and nobody else knew anything about the type of first aid that Tiffany was talking about.  Something that I learnt about the school in England is that there school rules are extremely alike and that the most popular car in England is a mini.  The food at the Sleepover was delicious we had
pizza, popcorn, biscuits, sausage, toast, weet bix & cereal.  The most surprising bit was when people kept shining there torches up at the ceiling and mrs Melville had to try to track them down to take their torches  off them. The sleepover was realy fun & i hope we do somthing like it at farm cove.

Multiplication Strategies

My Reflection

I found the doubling & halving the easiest because I am really good at doubling & halving, I found the place value strategy quite easy too because I have had a lot of practice using this strategy.

My next step is to understand the compensation strategy better because I found the adding and subtracting confusing.

My Diamante Poem

Reflection-
I found writing this fun and easy because I could identify nouns, adjectives and verbs.  I think my next step is to write Diamante poems about harder objects.

Cry of the Taniwha Prejudice Example

My Reflection-
I was learning how to make a prejudice example about a character from the book Cry of the Taniwha.
We had to identify their personalities, how they behave and their characteristics.  I found this easy because I could brainstorm ideas quickly and I could understand the map I used.
I think my next step is to put more effort into coming up with ideas and think about the character more in-depth.

adding in parts strategy

My Reflection-
I have been learning to solve addition problems using the adding in parts strategy.  I found adding the tidy numbers easy, rather than trying add without rounding up.  I think my next step is to working larger numbers like 389 + 491.

My Volcano Landscape

My Reflection- I found the drag and the sponge painting on my volcano landscape easy but the card printing hard.  My next step is to concentrate more on the card printing part of my painting.
